We are delighted to have appointed Mark Palframan as Director of the Charity, Hackney Doorways, taking over from Interim Director Henry Brown.
Mark is local to Hackney and has many years’ experience in the homeless sector. He will work closely with the Board of Trustees and lead our staff team to enable people in Hackney to find routes out of homelessness.
On his appointment, Mark said, “It is a real privilege to take up the challenge of leading the Night Shelter. I’ve been living in Hackney for the past 35 years and have been involved in various community initiatives assisting homeless people and refugees. Most recently I was Chief Executive of the Vineyard Community Centre in Richmond – providing support for homeless people as well as running the Food Bank.
We have some challenges here in Hackney – not least being the need to find longer term premises for our static shelter(s). But we’ve got a strong team of staff and volunteers and between us we look forward to continuing and expanding the work - providing safe and welcoming emergency accommodation and a place for our guests to work out longer term housing solutions.”
Andrea Daniels, Chair of the Trustee Board, said “We’re really pleased to welcome our new Director Mark Palframan to Hackney Night Shelter. Mark brings with him a wealth of experience in the sector as well as a real commitment to the borough and its community. We have ambitious plans to develop our service and impact and are excited to work together with Mark to realise this.
