We're pleased to have renewed the lease for our main shelter for another year!

In 2022 we relocated from our site in Stoke Newington, transforming a disused former Hackney Council building into our current mixed shelter where guests can enjoy an evening meal, sleep safely and access holistic support towards routes out of homelessness. Our team of volunteers and staff revamped the former office space into a cosy living area where guests can relax, watch TV and play games.

Over the past 28 years we’ve utilised a range of places for people to take refuge from sleeping on the streets. Starting as a network of churches and local people during the winter, in 2019 the charity developed operations to run all year round and opened the first mixed static shelter in 2020. Since embarking on our journey as a static shelter we’ve prioritised unused buildings as with our current site.

While we’ve had our fair share of challenges turning the space into our shelter, we are very grateful to Hackney Council for continuing to support our work here. Renewing the lease comes at a timely moment as we’re preparing to refresh the building with some minor improvements in January. Watch this space for updates on our progress.
