Daniel*

Daniel had been working as an overnight manager in a fast-food restaurant until he was hit by an e-scooter in a cycle accident. Damage to his knee meant he could no longer work and struggled to make ends meet with the minimal sick pay he received.

The friends he’d been living with evicted him and he spent two and a half years couch surfing before becoming street homeless around Christmas.

After arriving at our Severe Weather Emergency temporary shelter this winter, Daniel came to stay at our main shelter for two weeks. Despite his knee injury he enjoyed playing table tennis and chatting with guests and volunteers.

Working with a case worker during his stay with us, he began to see hope for a route out of homelessness and was able to move on positively to supported accommodation.
