One of our recent guests was a 24-year-old Palestinian man, Ali*.

He became street homeless after receiving his refugee status and being evicted from Home Office accommodation. When speaking about his experience, he said, “there is a real housing crisis here”. He has been extremely anxious about his family in Gaza.

While staying at Hackney Night Shelter, he was able to receive support from a caseworker and after six weeks secured his own private rented place in Clapton.

When reflecting on his stay he commented “the staff and volunteers here are very helpful and respectful to me. I loved to talk to them. They are nice people.”
