We need £50,000 to continue providing 26 emergency beds every night - and to help homeless people move into their own longer term accommodation
Please consider making a donation towards the costs of our work here: HNS Christmas Appeal
£400 Heating costs – we spend over £400 per week on the heating and other utility costs across our two shelters.
£150 overnight staff cover – although we pay no rent at our main shelter, and most of the work is undertaken by volunteers, we still need to pay someone to look after the shelter through the night.
£30 supper! We receive lots of donations but we still need to buy some essential ingredients. Just £30 would cover the extra cost of providing one night’s supper in the main shelter.
We don’t receive any government funding so we depend on grants and donations to finance the shelters and our work. Christmas is an important moment in the year when we appeal for financial support.
If people prefer to not give money for essential costs but want to buy things for our guests or the shelter we suggest the following items would be most useful:
Vouchers for Tesco, Primark, Marks and Spencer etc. (instead giving hats, gloves and scarves). Our guests like to have vouchers so they can choose their own clothing (underwear etc.)
Mobile Phones are absolutely essential nowadays and new phones which we could give to any of our guests who don’t have them would be much appreciated.
Toiletries including: deodorants, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes.
Slippers, dressing gowns and hot water bottles.
Flip-flops or sliders for wearing in the shower.
Tea, Instant Coffee, Sugar, Cordial or other longer lasting food stuffs.
Laundry detergent - capsules or pods, our guests like to do their own washing and we have lots of sheets and towels to wash every week.
